Trout are some of the favorite fish for game fisherman to land but reeling them in is not always as easy as it sounds- or as it may be with other types of fish.
If you are fishing for trout, you know that it can't always be easy. Many seasoned fisherman claim that landing great trout is a difficult task. However, there are some things you can do to help make this feat a bit easier to achieve.
These tips, from real trout fisherman will help you.
1. The first step is to locate your fish. Know where you will go to fish and know how to locate the fish in the water. Wearing polarized sunglasses is usually recommended because it allows you to see past the glare and spot the trout beneath the water surface.
2. When fishing in murky water, a heavier line and a heavier split shot because the water will be higher and swifter. The murky water will help conceal your heavy line so there is less worry from having a larger one.
3. If it is a clear and sunny day with calm, clear water, you need to use as light a line as possible. Try clear nylon sewing machine thread or a 2-poound test line.
4. Know your park. Take time to locate and contact the hatchery office in the park you will be fishing in so that you can learn more about the stream or lake you are trout fishing in. They will be able to tell you information such as the conditions of the stream, typical weather patterns and more helpful advice.
5. Fly is not the only way to go- While many people fly fish for trout, it is certainly not the only way to catch these critters. In fact, close to have of trout fisherman we know use spinning reels and rods instead of fly rods. Part of it is a personal preference to you.
6. Know your species- Did you know that there are many different species' of trout? Part of being a great trout fisherman is discovering each one and learning all you can about that particular species.
