The choice of the Utah fishing trip depends on what type of fish you are interested in catching. There is a region in Utah for almost every fishing vacation wish, and it is a great state to try out several fishing areas. While in Utah there are a number of sights and other activities for the family as well.

Obviously, if you are fly fisher, you can plan a great fishing trip almost anywhere in the state. Superb fly-fishing is available, with a variety of very large fish. Utah fishing trips can be planned for fly-fishing almost any time of the year.

The Logan River and the Blacksmith Fork are famous for excellent Utah fly-fishing. If you wish to go fishing in Utah for trout, the Provo River that runs through Provo Canyon is a popular destination among many experienced fishermen. Those with an interest in Utah fly fishing should also consider the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam, which is one of the best trout fishing rivers in the world. Additionally, popular destinations for fly fishing during the summer and fall include Jones Hole Creek in Dinosaur National Monument below Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery, Carter Creek and Sheep Creek west of Flaming Gorge. Consider Bear Lake for mackinaw, cutthroat and rainbow trout.

If you want to plan Utah fishing trips for fly-fishing in the eastern part of the state, you should consider the Gigliotti Pond in Helper City, Beaver Dam inlet area at Scofield Reservoir, Huntington North Reservoir, and Millsite state park area. Shore fishermen will be successful in this eastern region casting in areas such as inlets, bays, fallen trees, dams or other areas where fish have shelter and food.

Fishing in the southern region of Utah is great at the Sevier River that runs parallel to highway 89, and has great German brown and rainbow trout fishing. Panguitch Creek below Panguitch Lake and the Beaver River are both popular destinations for fishing in Utah. Stream fishermen also have excellent places to fish in Utah, including the Virgin River east of Zion National Park, Mammoth Creek south of Hatch, Parowan Creek east of Parowan, and the Sevier River near Bryce Canyon are also excellent choices.
