With trips year round providing various results and yielding different species, you can opt for a simple half-day trip during a vacation to a full three weeks of deep sea fishing. If you sail out a mere three to ten miles for deep sea fishing, San Diego waters are teeming with different varieties of bass (white, calico, and sand bass are common), mackerel, dorado, and barracuda. All of these are typical species found in the deep waters closest to the shore. As the waters cool in the fall, tours head down toward the Coronado Islands just off the Baja coast. In the winter, the fish will move any further south towards Cabo San Lucas, and tours will follow.
